    Default Food Saver Vacuum Sealer

Are they still the best/ only real option? Also if so which one is the best that doesn't have to wait 5 minutes to cool off after sealing 3 bags?

I have a ziplock one that does a good job. Their bags are better too.

My original Food saver is still going "strong" except for the annoying cool down time. It is also out where I hunt which is 1.5 hours away from my house so I was going to get another for my house which will be used more often so wanted to see if there was anything better/quicker

Without going commercial, you won't find anything better.

Food saver for us also. I go back and forth and bags. I generally search eBay to find the best deals. I buy rolls and cut my own bags. Just make sure at least one side (inside) of the bag is ribbed or has dimples...not sure of the technical term but it definitely helps vacuuming the air out.

Mine has never needed to cool down and I have had two of them over the years.

Which ones do you have? I have used mine and a buddy's as well and maybe just the way we do it we are trying to do it all at once which overloads it and not spread out. I know that if I try and vacuum 4 things back to back it won't happen. It'll always give me the red light for a couple minutes to cool off before vacuuming

You aren't vacuum sealing enough meat.

Which isn't surprising based on your skill set.

I have a food saver and it does well. My next one will be a weston.

Does anyone use bags besides the food saver brand? Any options besides the standard roll that you have found to work well?

After using 3 food saver brand vacuum sealers (burning up 2) over the past 10 years, I currently have an Anova brand "Precision" vacuum sealer. I have only had it for almost a year though so I can't guarantee its longevity. However, it will seal up a whole deers worth of meat without needing a cool down period. Considering the cost, I'd say it has been a good buy thus far.

When my son was in his teens he realized that the thing "sucked". Long story short, he learned quickly that there is such a thing as too much suction and you better know where the release latch is.
