    Default Reel repair

I have some reels that need to be re-worked/repaired. Penns and Shimanos. Any recommendation or first hand experience?
Honey...I'll do it after the season is over.

    Where are you located?

Both have mail in service/repair but you are likely to get better turn around with someone local.

Midlands. I would prefer giving business to a person rather than a corporation.

I usually take mine to Barron's, but they weren't able to get parts for a couple of older Penn spinning reels. My second choice would be Nutter Rod and Reel Service in White, GA. My father-in-law did business with them for years and speaks very highly of them.

Barrons does it. I'll bet they can do the 6500 with ease also.

Used to take all mine to a place in Socastee when we had the place in GC. Be on your right going down. Can't remember the place name. Ask around down there

If the Penn's are Senators, they're very easy to do yourself.

Just look at the schematics, order the parts online, and put them in.

Ricks reel service from the hull truth does an excellent job as well- he also can upgrade the bearings and washers to greatly improve what you have.

X1000 on Rick. Great service, fast, and can’t beat the prices

I think his daughter Cindy opened a place in North MB that cleans reels.

Reel Fix in Loris works on them. I’ve never had any work done there so can’t claim they are any good.
