Default Experience with Bath/Shower Re-Finishing Kits?

Looking at potentially re-finishing our tubs/showers (currently ugly tan...). Been reading up on resin/epoxy paint re-finishing kits as replacing the tubs/showers is not an option based on the overall value of our house.

Anyone have any experience with this stuff? Any recommendations for specific brands? Reviews on them seem decent, in reading through the lines, it seems that most people who gave negative reviews didn't do the best job of following the instructions.

    Thanks!

I bought the stuff Lowe’s had. They had an option for roll on or spray in the same brand(can’t remember the brand but it was the only one they had)I went with the spray. It was a pretty tedious process to follow their steps but I am two years in and it still looks like it did on day one.

Yea you have to clean very very good, and the scour the tile very very hard to get the gloss off, then you paint 2-3 coats and youve got the finished product.

Thanks for the input. Gobblin, How would you rate your rattlecan spray skills? If I go this route, I think I'm going to go the roller route.

As stated, it got to be clean and no contamination....

The Puerto Rican that used to work for me does this for a living now in apartments and such.
He says a mouse fart will contaminate it and screw up the finish.

Look at http://www.topkote.com/ . They have a link on their website where you can call to find someone in your area that does refinishing. I had one of my tubs done 6 years ago and it still looks good. And it's made in South Carolina.
