    My parents met on Edisto is the 50's. My Dad worked at the bowling alley ( where the corner gas station is now, where Putt Putt was) in the summers while he was in college. My Mom's family had a few beach cabins there which a couple still exist(although not in the family any more). I have been going down as long as I can remember and my Father in law has a place there that we use regularly. A lot has changed over the years, mostly due to yankees wanting to change it to the shithole they came from.. It's my place to get away. We rarely do restaurants and go find our own beach/sandbar in the boat.

    We’ve been going for years, and it gets a little worse every year. It’s certainly not a well kept secret anymore.

    We never once ate out the entire week we were there. Would have if I’d known WillK had opened a place. We fish. We drink, and we cook.

    Whaley’s prime rib sandwich is legit. So is the fried scallops if they have them. That is about the only thing I order.

    We went to Seacow for breakfast both days b/c it was the only thing open at 8:00 am. Went to Mckonkeys for supper one night, it wasn't bad. Had planned to try the Briny Swine on Sunday, but it wasn't open so we ended up going to the place at the marina. It was pretty good. On a side note, those love bugs (or whatever they're called) were absolutely EVERYWHERE. And for the record, evidently if there's two back to back days of a Northeast wind, the flies will absolutely carry you off at the beach. I talked to some fella down there walking back to the car from the beach, and this dude had had enough. He was spazzing out b/c of the flies. Highlight of the trip was going to Botany Bay. Pretty cool place. On the walk out there, we got to see some redfish tailing in the marsh which I've never had the chance to see before. We did catch a few fish from the surf, but nothing to brag about. Only whiting, small reds and a ray.
