    Default Rifle scope suggestions

I haven’t been deer hunting more than once or twice a year, for over 10 years. I have an older 700 model 30.06, that I’d like to put a decent piece of glass on, as I plan on doing some hunting this year. I want something that’s good in low light, has a good zoom, and doesn’t fog up. Those are some of the things I currently despise about the scope that’s currently on the gun. Don’t want to break the bank. Was hoping to find something in the <$800 range

Illumination? Trijicon Accupower or a used Accupoint, Meopta, I may sell a Leica ER5 2-10X50 #4.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

This was the first gun I ever bought and paid for myself. I bought it off the used rack at Carolina Sportsman, 21 years ago. Paid $400 for it with a cheap Tasco scope on it. Had to get my dad to sign all the paperwork because I was only 15.

Just want something I can use to shoot deer on field edges at first and last light. Shoot me a PM on the Leica. I’ll be down your way in two weeks.

For your price range it'd be hard to beat a Trijicon

That Leica is your best bet. Trijicon if you buy new.

    For the price?

Meopta Meopro in whatever magnification is sufficient for your needs.

I've become a big vortex fan. They just came out with the new Strike Eagle which is upper mid-tier. I'm going to be getting one https://vortexoptics.com/vortex-stri...25x56-ffp.html

Personally, I value the vortex warranty and customer service almost as much as the glass but can't go wrong with any of the suggestions

Same here. I have had very good experiences with their warranty and customer service.

I would try to find a used leupold VX5HD.

People know about Vortex’s warranty for a reason. It is used a lot.

X2. Outside the razor line vortex stuff belongs in a China cabinet. It’s fragile. I’ve seen the internals crap out on a viper scope from being tipped over leaning against a 4 wheeler.

If a company touts its warranty as a major selling point for an optic, buy something else.

Nikon suits us fine, price and function. Can see through scope what I can see through Binos till dark. Have had excellent customer service from them as well, on things I probably abused.

Nikon is out of the riflescope business. Everything out there are leftovers and warranty support is 2 more years if what I read was true but you don’t get a new optic, your old one is fixed and sent back.
