Default Deer hunting from the ground

For those that hunt long range from the ground, show us your set ups.

Power Lines, Gas Lines, Roadbeds, theres been a many deer get tipped over shooting down those long stretches.

What setup has helped you be the most accurate you can be?

A rifle and a shooting stick wont cut it when you start stretching one out.

    Define stretching it out

But would a box blind built on the ground with a solid shooting rail not give you what you need?

Sure, but what if you cant build one? Example, Dirt road or fire break on game management

There is a lot of wobble in both of those set ups.

a decent tri pod with a hog saddle or arca clamp is the ticket. I prefer shooting off something with a 55lb weight cap or higher.

Ideal would be prone with a rear bag and bi pod or modified prone off a truck hood.

Define stretching it out? I have killed deer from 4 steps to 400 yards out of a gobbler lounger and a .270. I always Use a mono shooting stick, or straddle a small hardwood tree for a rest.

My favorite way to gun hunt bc of mobility and being lazy

Y’all mofo’s make this shit way to complicated. I take the foam cushion I sit on turkey hunting, my woodsmaster 30.06, and a walking stick. Sit on foam cushion up against tree, take left hand and grip around walking stick at proper height, take index finger and wrap around barrel to anchor gun to walking stick, brace walking stick up against right knee to anchor, boom, go get truck.

Rifle shooting from the ground in most parts of our very flat state is scary.

Me? I get out a lot - that's part f the problem. I do a lot of long distance hiking and a lot of birding...rifles shot from ground level scare me more than anything.
