It was a play on the term "beaten like a rented mule". See, if the rented mule watched that beating, it is severe enough to make him blush? That would mean it is more severe than the beating the rented mule would receive.

Clemson owns U of SC to the point that the only rebuttals are about one 3 yr player that never lost to Clemson, a WV team that smashed Clemson in a BCS bowl (a bowl that U of SC is one of 5 power conference teams to never reach), and a loss in the National Championship game to one of the best college football teams ever. I’d say life on the Clemson side of the ledger isn’t all that bad. I never thought Clemson would dominate U of SC to the point that the lesser would quit, but I’ve heard a ton of Clemson fans hoping for a season, and a lot of U of SC fans hoping for a stay of execution.

Of course, 5 of the first 7 conference games Climp5in plays are at home against ACC losers and then they have a bye week before they head to play ND on the road.
The good news is, it will just lead to another awesome embarrassment...aka the "don't belong here bowl"
