No need to spend $3200.00 when you can spend $5-600.00. This one should last 10-15yrs easy.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

What is everyone’s “go to” for killing the bastard jihadist wasps that take over every July/August

Use good treated lumber (used to only use Cox lumber but Yella bought them out), buy a $80 set of metal leg brackets and treated 4x4’s. We used ripped 2x4’s for skeleton of the walls and roof frame. If you prefab them at home, it’s not too bad in the field. My guess is at least 10 years of use.

Been thinking of just building a solid platform and popping ground blind on top. Probably wouldn’t save any money but would make it more portable. Anyone done this and have an opinion?
One of my buds did it- on top of commercial scaffolding in a cutdown- worked damn good

My evolution as a deer hunter has progressed. Now that I am a senior citizen, comfort and safety is not overrated.

First few years, I hunted from Baker climbing tree stands. One piece. You gripped the tree in a (literal) death embrace and hoisted ya azz up ( and down) the tree .. We didn't have safety harnesses or lineman's belts. Not real bright. The bottom was bad to slide and I still have scars from pine bark. Had several friends fall and get injured from the damned things.

We have some nice stands at our river place and we are upgrading more every season.

January, I hunted in TX on a friend's ranch. Those guys have over 30 high dollar box stands - all made in TX. Carpeted and sound proofed. Sliding windows , rifle rests and sandbags. Cup holders , fans and buddy heaters. Comfy chairs. I was impressed and know what I will be hunting from soon..

i have some deer stand building stuff I will give to someone,
I need it out of my way, a few sheets of brand new metal roofing,
a few "ground anchors, a few small transom windows, an air vent or two"
all brand new stuff. If you live near Columbia.
And don't ask me to hold it for you until you can "get up this way".
    2th do you need it?

Ecu if you are serious I can arrange pick up this weekend. Not asking you to hold me that’s just as soon as I can come get it.

I picked up a wrought iron spiral staircase a couple years ago and now I feel compelled to build a big shooting house for my elderly friends (which is all of them). I personally don't care to hunt from a box blind or ground blind/pup tent. It's like shooting a deer out of a bathroom window. I usually hunt from hang-ons with climbing sticks or a climber. Most of my semi-permanent stand are nosebleed height and not suitable for old codgers.

If I build one, it's going to be a palace. I figure it can double as an evening cocktail/wildlife observation/stabbin' cabin venue in the off season.
