    Default Rainwater collection systems

I am looking into one for backup. I have found that the state of NC doesn't allow it for potable water (just makes me want to get started sooner) while other states will pay for a large percentage of your costs to build the system.

I have looked at them here and there while traveling but have never run one. Anyone here know a formula for figuring out how much storage?

    Tips? Tricks?

i have no fucking clue what you're talking about.

I collect rain in every bucket, lid, upside down frisbee, and tractor seat I own. You need advice on how to do this?

At least NC gives you an option to do it. When we lived in California I looked into it due to the ever present drought situation out there and the state doesn’t allow it at all for any purpose!
Living in Moncks Corner but looking forward to moving back to the West Coast in 2020 where there are more ducks and less duck hunters!! LOL

The State of California's water issues are a whole different animal, but I don't have to tell YOU that. Common sense would have them pushing these systems after all the drought that they have seen. Combine the nanny state mentality with the potential loss of taxable municipal water, no chance...

The ones I have seen are basically a leaf guard type gutter system that flows into a cistern. All gravity fed. It was for watering a garden- so not really a large scale production

    well, hell, I got that.
I trimmed my downspout and stuffed a 50gal drum under it with a hole cut out of the lid, covered with mesh.

Actually you are of some use after all. I just thought of GRP, then remembered that Sandy has a massive one of these systems that I can go put my eyes on...

What are you using the cistern for? Potential drip irrigation ?

I wrote most of this spec for rain water harvesting https://www.greenvillecounty.org/Lan..._Spec_2018.pdf

If price is not a concern, I would just recommend one of the package systems that can be selected from area and local rainfall. Many of the package systems will have optional filters to meet potable water standards.

You know me. By the book or not at all.

Actually I am looking at a plastic fertilizer tanks for the storage. I just need a calculation.

I am intrigued at how they are keeping water in a damn grain bin though...
