Default How much to cut / move granite ??

I have a house that we are updating the kitchens in and getting new countertops. I hate just trashing the old granite countertops and want to have them re-cut and moved to another house, but the company told me it would cost me more money to have the old granite cut down and installed in my other kitchen. He said it would be cheaper to order the same quality granite from them and have them cut and install it. How can this possibly be

Depends on the grade of granite you have. The material can range from $20/sf to $400+/sf. If it’s a cheaper stone, by the time they remove it, transport it, retemplate, refabricate and reinstall it you could easily pay more. What you want to do is labor intensive and heavy work.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

So, I don't specifically do stone, but I do high end tops.

I specialize in acrylic solid surface.....'Corian,etc'

As far as reusing custom tops, it's the same situation. Juice ain't worth the squeeze...

it's a rock, the only reason it costs more then a few hundred for a dump truck is because of hauling, and the cut. Buy a saw and make some pizza stones.

Yeah, they most likely will break removing them anyway.....another reason fabricators don't mess with it.

Buy your new tops, trash the old ones, and spend whatever is left making your boat faster.....
