    Default Lower unit Mercury 50hp 2 stroke

    Went to change the impeller today and saw this.

    That is part of the seal. It fits down inside a channel in that rubber boot to apply pressure seal it up.

    Need to replace.

    Pretty common part but that don't mean anyone will have it in stock. Check the drawing on boats.net or Mercury's site. There's possibly 2 seals stacked on top of each other. At least I know that's how Yamaha typically does it.

    Might want to inspect the seals around the prop shaft as well. If that seal was in fact leaking then you'll certainly need a foot oil drain/ fill.

    Actually, the local shop in Sumter called McLean's keeps a pretty good on-hand inventory on hi use stuff like seals, bolts, water impellers, gaskets, etc. Freddy will pull the bins out and go thru em with me till we find what we're looking for. If he don't have it then he'll order it.

    Don't know what other shops keep in stock. Maybe McLeans spoiled me.
