    Default Cooling a shop

I recently built a 40x40 shop with a 14' trust height. Its fully insulated (walls, ceilings and doors). I'm trying to figure what my best option is for cooling the building. Have any of you had any experience with an evaporative cooler and if so, how well do they work? One advantage to it is that most are portable and can be moved around if need be. My other options would be a large window type unit or a ductless system.

Mini split, our cook shed we built is about the same size as yours, those ductless mini splits are heavenly.

First tax-paying job I ever had was in a shop with evaporative coolers.

I would consider a 1 1/2 to 2 Ton Unit. a 40x40 Building is as large as most houses, 1600sq.ft. You would need at least 3 if not 4 Mini Splits to cool this.

Thank you, we have worked hard and are thoroughly enjoying it. Doubles as a get away from the kids when we decide we don’t like them anymore.

    i'd do this... https://www.amazon.com/Senville-2800.../dp/B07SD8JJHY

i have 2 senville units. been great so far.

what type of insulation do you have? closed ceiling or open? if/when you do a mini split, mount the indoor unit 7-8ft high.

This is what happens when you spend you money on things other than fluoride.

This. In Las Vegas walking under a mister is absolute heaven, walking under on in SC just leaves you a little wetter and not cooler. The only exception is that some evaporative cooler have bins that allow you to add ice, but who wants to feed that monster and if your building is insulated you will just be raising your humidity levels and a good crop of mold.
