Surely Trump is not upset with the App due to the Tulsa rally.

Funny how banning stuff and personal responsibility are so quickly interchanged.

What else do you all need the dot gov to do for you?

Somebody will introduce a bill that requires all food be pre cut and pre chewed for you soon enough.
I would say that any spy app created by an enemy of the state should be banned from people to stupid to avoid it. Note this app wasn't created by a Chinese company, but the Chinese government itself.

Shitty American companies like Reddit or Youtube should be free to be shitty within the bounds of the constitution and law.

I'm in agreement with private companies/employers (even the government) not allowing it in the building or on work phones. But if the Chi Comms want to see the inner workings of some 19 year old air head and self professed "influencer" then Jimmeh can crack corn.

Of course. I should not care that they sell your tween daughter's nudes to pedophiles or that you get blackmailed for those emails and texts you thought were private to your girlfriend. Those are just chickens coming home to roost.

But we can't keep those devices from interacting with everything that they link up with. Work, power company website, .mil's, everything. I am sure it is inevitable that they get into everything anyway, but we can't open the door for them.

This has nothing to do with the porn except that when you got to Marshes gay porn site on your TikTok infected phone, then log into your Nest door cam it sits there waiting for the next thing to infect like every computer cam, hard drive, and audio recorder in your house.

The Red Chinee Army isn't interested in what is going on in my children's bedroom or what is on my hard drives you say.

True. But plenty of people are. The Chinee has no moral stigma, or any fear of prosecution not to bundle tranches of these and selling them. They will maximize the profit on everything they pull from credik card info, the 2017 tax return your CPA sent you, what you ordered from ramjamrubberoflaurens.com, whatever. There are people from Nigeria to Sumter who will pay for it.

All of it is gravy, and they don't miss much. Obviously, turning out the lights, crippling air defenses, etc comes right along with it...

The Chinese fear no moral stigma because they have no souls.

I can't wait for the buckets of salty tears from Americans who care more about what the Kardashians are wearing than the biggest communist regime in history openly spying on 100% of the devices that uses their spyware...

    Breaking-

The Commerce Department announced Friday morning that it would ban U.S. business transactions with Chinese-owned social apps WeChat and TikTok on Sunday.

The announcement comes as President Donald Trump is expected to announce Friday whether or not the government will approve a deal for Oracle to take a minority stake in TikTok and become a "trusted technology partner" for the company in the U.S.

It's unclear if the Commerce Department's announcement means there's no possibility of a deal going through before the Sunday deadline, and it could be an aggressive move from the Trump Administration to push for its original intention for TikTok to be fully owned by a U.S. company.

"At the President's direction, we have taken significant action to combat China's malicious collection of American citizens' personal data, while promoting our national values, democratic rules-based norms, and aggressive enforcement of U.S. laws and regulations." Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said in a statement Friday.

Friday's announcement from the Commerce Department appears to be enforcing Trump's original executive order from August 6 that gave TikTok 45 days to sell its U.S. business to a U.S. company or face a ban in the U.S. WeChat, which is one of the most popular social messaging apps in the world, is owned by the Chinese company Tencent. TikTok's parent company is the Chinese company ByteDance.

The Commerce Department's statement on Friday said that starting Sept. 20, U.S. companies would be banned from distributing WeChat and TikTok, meaning the two major mobile app stores run by Apple and Google would have to remove the apps from their libraries. The statement also blocks U.S. companies from providing services through WeChat "for the purpose of transferring funds or processing payments within the U.S."

WeChat is a popular marketing and sales tool for U.S. companies primarily in China, but around the world as well. With U.S. social apps like Facebook and Instagram banned in China, WeChat is the primary app people use for social networking and e-commerce. It's also a popular app used by people in the U.S. to communicate with people in China, since U.S. apps are banned in China.

The Commerce Department's announcement also lays out a separate time frame specific to TikTok, which take affect on Nov. 12. The rules that start Nov. 12 include provisions that block U.S. companies from providing internet hosting and services for TikTok. This could be directed at the deal being negotiated between TikTok and Oracle, which would provide cloud services for TikTok if Trump approves, and could give TikTok and Oracle more time to hammer out a deal that Trump will approve.

Representatives for Tencent, TikTok, WeChat, Apple and Google were not immediately available to comment.

This is breaking news. Please check back for updates.

Second-hand knowledge of the platform, but what worries me about this is that, besides the silly videos, this is a useful platform to get unfiltered information. Unlike FB, Twitter, Google, Youtube, its not censored and filtered to shape narratives. For instance, my nephew was telling me that there is a big movement of black conservatives calling out BLM on tik tok, and commented on how know one realizes how many of them there are, but you can see it on tik tok because its not controlled by the left.

I'm sure there are plenty of negatives, but just sharing that pov.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

I informed my daughter that she was no longer to be involved with TikTok at any capacity anymore. It’s baffling that I have to tell a 6 year old that.
