    Default Mutton snapper

Noticed on the Facebook that the commercial boys out of MI have been bringing in some nice mutton’s on the regular. Never caught one off SC but knew they were a few caught occasionally. Looks like they are catching them consistently.
    What’s your guess? 180’ range?

We’ve caught a few before on the ledge 150-180’. Never got in them really consistently though.

140-200’ is the rumor. Haven’t ventured deeper than 100’ this year.

Buddies went spade fishing yesterday in 50-60’ couldn’t find jelly balls, netted some menhaden instead and got beaten up by big gags and cobia on the light tackle. 79# wahoo was caught inside 100’ a week ago and my son caught a 24” flounder suspended 30’ off the bottom on a slow pitch jig. Caught a 10# ARS in 30’ two weeks ago. Fishing is wacky right now.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Red Snappers are stupid thick 100-120. Hard to grouper fish in that range. Caught and tagged/seaqualized 6 last Fri and 7 yesterday while trying to avoid them. Of course itll be 6ft during the mini season.

I’ve caught about a dozen over the last 10 years.

No rhyme or reason. Anywhere from 90 to 200.

Most of them have been 10+lb fish though.

I think they are scattered. People catch em occasionally here.

People also catch tautog and yellowtail snapper here.

    That’s real bottom fishing.

Great trip. I’m trapping bait tomorrow and penning em up for a mid week walloping.
