    Default Western, NC, Cabins?

My brother and SIL are coming up for a vacation, and several of those days they want to stay up in the Mountains where they can easily go for day trips to visit waterfalls, the small towns, etc, etc, instead of staying with us the whole time and adding the extra hour+ of driving each way.

Are there any cabins up there that are built/intended for less than 6-10 people? It would just be the two of them. I’m thinking in the Brevard to Highlands area, but that’s not for sure.

    Thanks for any helpful info.

It’s outside of the area you described but Springmaid Mountain just outside of Spruce Pine has a lot of cabin options for different size parties. I’ve only been up there for group trips but the cabin we stay in is nice and reasonably priced. Here is their website:

My brother just told me he booked a cabin in the Mountain Rest area so his plans are taking shape. Thanks for the suggestion, jwterry3.

Not sure what small towns you plan on visiting- But if you go to Walhalla, make sure you hit up the Walhalla Steak House and get some fried chicken

I’m not sure and I don’t think they know yet. They want to visit waterfalls a long with poking around towns like Highlands, Cashiers, Brevard, Henderson, Asheville, etc, along with playing some golf while they’re here for a few days before or after they hit the cabin, etc. He asked about fly fishing, but he’s never been and it’s going to be a bit hot for it, but I may talk to your son and see what he thinks.

I doubt it Groupon is a liberal own company conspiring with the New World Order.

Fried chicken is the specialty- not sure why they even call it a 'Steak House'

I have never heard of this place. Thanks for the heads up Delmer...

Speaking of fried chickens, what is your take on Rocky's?

It's more a cafeteria than anything. Not a place for fine dining

Pretty good- I get the medium heat. Anything beyond that is painful. The friggin line to get in there is sometimes ridiculous. Beer is cold and pairs well with the spicy chicken

It's like something from a Coen brothers movie.

We just had the fried chicken at the Mountain Rest Cafe a coupla weeks back. Same place or no? Sounds like no, although this was right on time.
Got 2 legs for dark meat though. Fresh outta thighs, I reckon.
I don't need my name in the marquee lights....
