Default YoutubeTV increase from $50 to $65

I am out. Have been paying it and not using it anyway.

YouTube TV has announced that it’ll be sharply raising its monthly price from $50 per month to $65 as the company starts to offer eight of ViacomCBS’s channels, which are available today: BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, TV Land, and VH1.

The new price takes effect today for any new subscribers, while existing customers should see it on their next billing cycle.

The $15 increase in price marks the latest price hike for YouTube TV, which was $35 per month when it originally launched. The price was first raised to $40 per month in early 2018 as it added Turner networks (including TBS, TNT, CNN, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, truTV, and Turner Classic Movies). Costs went up again in 2019 to $50 per month when YouTube TV added Discovery’s lineup of networks. And now, with the addition of the aforementioned ViacomCBS channels, it’s getting its biggest price leap yet, up to $65 per month.

Per the original announcement of the new channels, YouTube TV is also slated to get BET Her, MTV2, Nick Jr., NickToons, TeenNick, and MTV Classic in the future, although they’re not part of today’s launch.

In a blog post announcing the new price and channels, YouTube’s VP of product management Christian Oestlien sympathizes that the increased cost is difficult for some of its members, but that the “new price reflects the rising cost of content and we also believe it reflects the complete value of YouTube TV.”
Here is how i feel about Turner's networks, MTV, and BET...

What other options are you guys using, I’ve currently been with YouTube tv now through both price increases and this new $15 being the third. This unfortunately will continue to be a growing trend until they price themselves back into the cable tv market.

We use sling. Have a basic Hulu, Netflix, and amazon prime account as well. It’s more tv than we need, in my opinion.

I won't do netflix since they gave Obama a multi-year deal to make films, tv shows, etc. As soon as they announced that I canceled my subscription.

Yea we switched from sling also. I switched so I could get local tv for football games. It sucks but still better than cable in my opinion.

I am certain that Google will make more cash in the time it takes me to make this post than they will lose if everyone cancels YTTV.

Clearly, it is more important for them to push shit content than to make money...

I said it a few years ago when streaming services came out that they'd end up being what cable is. Every price increase gets them closer. I still don't understand why they won't offer some sort of a la carte deal. The content providers must not be willing to play ball. I'd much rather pay $50 for the 10 channels I want vs. $65 for 75 channels (or however many they have now).

They can’t be taken seriously until they have the Hallmark Channel.

MSNBC and CNN is most entertainment for November. After that the digital antenna will work unless athletes shut up and dribble and make sports tolerable.

You can get direct tv for 65/mth. Youtube is pricing themselves out of the good thing they had.
