    Wilson's take on that...

"Basically, you have state law that says you cannot wear a mask and city ordinance that says you must wear a mask," he said.

Wilson said that the law was passed in 1962. He said the intention was to prevent members of the Ku Klux Klan from concealing their identities while committing acts of terrorism.

"With that in mind, this statute, in our opinion, would not be applicable to the mask ordinances because the wearer is not attempting to conceal their identity but to comply with a city health ordinance," Wilson said.

So an asymptomatic person with COVID wearing a mask would do the same to prevent spread to someone nearby?

IF worn correctly and none is being aerosolized.

You need to understand the difference between droplet transmission and airborne transmission. I am not going to get into a dispute with those for or against mask as I'm in between. Can it help, yes. How much does it help I don't know. I am not certain how airborne this disease is or is it mostly spread by droplet. Providence hospital has had many in their ICU with out negative pressure, not intubated, for weeks on end. Just closing the glass door. Shared air conditioning through out the whole unit. All those rns and techs at the nurses station have not gotten it and several with mask only part of the time. If it was active TB some would probably be positive for it now. Active TB can and is spread by airborne or aerosol transmission.

THIS IS NOT TO SAY "IT CAN NOT BE SPREAD VIA AIRBORNE AEROSOL TRANSMISSION"

If it is MOSTLY droplet transmission as some suspect then normal surgical mask will help if worn correctly.

    Cloth not as much

airborne/aerosol is like a spec of dust that floats in the air. think of droplet like a heavy fog that falls and coats the floor

Good post Kevin. Shame on me for not already knowing all that stuff on the masks.

You’re talking about cloth masks. Like surgical masks, the purpose is to prevent the wearer’s germs from contaminating others. This is different than a respirator (FDA Approved KN95 Mask or other) which protects the wearer (and the wearer should be trained and properly fitted).
