Default Proposed Federal Rule on Cormorant management

This is good news for fisheries management...I think you can fumble around with the links and find a way to have your comments included. I've read some of the comments and they all seem supportive of continued management of cormorants.

    Here's the comment I submitted:

I am a life-long birder so I see, daily, how the presence of man throws nature out of balance. It is our responsibility to manage these imbalances in a way that is sustainable and considers all species. As such, I support an effort to allow more aggressive population control of double-crested cormorants up to and including lethal control methods. This should be done, of course, in a way that considers the economic and human value of fisheries while ensuring a healthy and sustainable population of double-crested cormorants.

So it's back on the table at least... that's a good sign.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!
