    Default Grandson’s first Bass

We have a 5 1/2 yr old grandson that loves the outdoors. He has been fishing with his other grandparents in a pond catching bream and loves it

Wife told him we would take him to the lake Saturday , his parents (son/dil) just had their second son 4 weeks ago, and really did not think much about it

I had brought my boat home and was cleaning it up and did not see him and his Mom pull up but heard him come running toward me saying “Popa T I want to go fishing”. Well talk about making your heart melt

Wife and I took him to Hartwell along with our Daughter and mostly we rode around and beached the boat and got in the water a while , he and our 8 month old Boykin had a blast

Then we decided to show him where i grew up on Lake Hartwell and around behind the point is a nice cove fed by big creek I used to fish all the time. Had couple light spinning rods and put a crappie jig on thinking as long as he was casting he would have fun

Then all of a sudden he said “I got a fish on” and honestly thought he was hung up but damn if did not have a small bass on his line

Stuff like this makes life worth living every day and he was wide awake all night telling about catching his first bass. That is a memory that will last me until I die and what made it better is I grew up fishing that cove for many years, actually caught my first walleye in almost that exact same spot when I was bout 12-13 yrs old

Nothing like taking kids fishing and making memories that you and them will remember forever. Congratulations.
