We know, but Clemson fans have been screaming that he owned slaves to somehow justify the vile Ben Tillman, so he has to go...

He married into my family.. so sometimes I have to take a deep breath when I see it in writing, just to let myself know I'm not responsible for the town.

But he offered one slave as a bounty to join the war effort. Three to enlist as a colonel.

So the Gamecocks are going to have to change there name because a revolutionary war hero owned slaves.General Thomas Sumter served his country under four presidents, and was the last surviving General of the American Revolution. He acquired the nickname, "The Carolina Gamecock" during the American Revolution for his fierce fighting tactics, regardless of his size.

It would be the end of the world if ESPN talked bad about them. Football Matters, you know...

South Carolina ain't winning "natties", bubba. Like it or not, the people responsible for Climp's recent success could end up being their downfall as well.

I don't think General Sumter owned slaves just facilitated using them as a bounty/payment to recruit soldiers.

PETA has been after the chicken mascot for years.

We have much work to do FSU, Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers (no LE), Ole Miss Rebels, Redskins, Andrew Jackson High/State Park, Lake Thurmond, Sumter NF, Fort Sumter, Frances Marion NF, etc.

The sign making industry should be strong soon.

We all knew it would NEVER end with removal of the Confederate Flag, what a bunch of horseshit!

“THEY” want the Washington monument and Jefferson Memorial taken down because they owned slaves. Pretty sure they both out rank the Banty Rooster.

It's about time for somebody to grow a pair and say "No". If something about a certain college offends you, take your "talents" elsewhere. Neither Hopkins nor Watson were overly concerned when they were there reaping the benefits, so why now?

Duck Tape and the flag was only the beginning of this shit.
