    Default Hornady 6mm ARC

Supposed to turn the AR-15 into a 1000 yard gun. Is this the end of 5.56?

5.56 ended for me a while ago. I simply don't have a use for it.

I mean for military applications. From what I gather, it’s just a barrel and bolt swap, and everything else stays the same. The problem with other calibers 6.5, etc., is having to run off the AR-10 platform.

I have an AR15 that will bust da hell out to a 1000. It’s a 5.56 projectile too. Just in a 224 Valkrye case.

    Magazine too.

Ditto on the ar-10 platform. Too heavy!

I'm wondering what advantage it has over 6.5 Grendel.

Same mags, but with a different follower.

My understanding is the 6.5 Grendel is plagued with feeding issues and is hard on the bolt.

Here’s vid from Hornady on the ARC vs the 6.5

Longer video on the overview. There is already one DOD entity that has adopted it to replace their 7.62x51 rifles.

Same case and bolt face, same mags, different bullet. The 6mm Grendel has been around for a while, Hornady has commercialized it. The weak link is the bolt. Not a lot of meat left. My Grendel was accurate as hell, but I broke two bolts during matches. I also had some of my best match finishes with it. I never had any feeding issues once I figured out what mags my rifle liked.

I had feeding issues until I switched to the ones FLS recommended.
