Is the owner hearing impaired? I can only imagine the whine and then the grind that thing had to be making before she blew.
Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

To be fair nearly every rear end whine I hear on the road is a 1500 gm truck or suv. Especially mid 90’s into 2000 models.

I had a 93 Silverado that you could not keep a ring and pinion in it more than 3 months.

Funny, almost all of the rear end noise I hear coming from vehicles is from Fords.

Biggest whine I hear coming from Chevys are their owners.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!
