    Default Jon boat repair

I have a old hull 1991 model that I will be painting in a few weeks it has a lot of holes on the deck and the benches were screws or bolts were used for this or that reason. In your experience what is the best way to fill these holes? I’m looking at a few options but would really like to hear from experience what’s the best course to take.

Good prep, fill with JB Weld, sand flush/fair, then paint.

Weld/tig and grind if you have the means.

I can't speak for JB weld but I'd say so. Depending on how big, how many, you can find a backyard welder to do it reasonable. Have a technical college near by with welding classes going on?

If these are small screw holes into the deck/seats I don’t think welding is worth the hassle.
Holes in the bottom or transom and my answer changes.

No holes in the transom or in the bottom just on the deck and benches from rod holders seats and accessories.

I cut 1/8” diamond plate and topped mine, spray painted it and let it ride.
