    Default Spring summer youth baseball?

We live in Summerville. My boy is 6 and plays coaches pitch. He started playing at 3 and has loved it. Unfortunately, Parks Field has cancelled the season for the spring.

If anyone knows of any leagues that are playing, teams that are getting together to continue practicing, or anything baseball team related (camps, kids clinics, etc) other than he and I playing in the yard, I would love to know. The little sucker is pretty good and really enjoys playing. Thanks in advance to anyone who has anything to contribute. - Matt

I think Beaufort is running a program. Since others may look at this post, Irmo Chapin and North Augusta are running leagues, not sure if they are taking registrations. Most Parks and Rec are updating websites and social media now.

Matt, Ashley Ridge usually has some good summer camps but I doubt they are having them this summer but something to look into. My boys were also upset PF cancelled but I wasn't looking forward to starting on June 1

    Thanks Metz

Rhett I agree about the late start, but the boy needs it. Hitting buckets of balls with dad and working fundamentals in the yard gets old for a 6 year old. He really enjoys it and enjoys the coaching/learning side of it. Just hate to see the drive wasted...

Fall ball starts in late August. The summer will go by fast enough.

it would be a perfect time to go ahead and have Tommy John surgery.

    I disagree

Almost brought me to tears to hear my 5 1/2 yr old grandson tell me “Popa T I dont get to play baseball this year”.

I called ours several weeks ago. We are Dixie youth. We usually have 11 teams so we are pretty small but being as my wife and I run the thing, along with building our house and the roofing business I was happy honestly. I do feel bad for the parents and kids in the older age groups. Mine won't ever know they missed anything.

Greatest baseball player I ever played with grew up playing 22 to 25 games a YEAR. Let them be boys.

Completly agree to hell with travel ball bs. I was contacted by 3 different "travel ball" coaches this spring asking if Walker could play with them... Nope, he can't even had one guy ask me if I knew the opportunity he was missing out on, my response absolutely nothing he's 7. Mine plays rec ball and allstars then he plays soccer in the fall. I'm of the opinion an athlete needs to use different muscle groups and give others a chance to rest.

Panama City, the myrtle of west Florida, this weekend. First tournament in a loooooong time. My son is fired up. Me not so much... I have gotten kind of use to the new normal of no baseball. I do know this, majority of the kids he plays with clearly need other hobbies. The same goes for their parents too.
