Besides being a private university, how can FU really "get away" with this decision?

They don’t HAVE to have any sports.
They tried to cut golf not long ago. The direction Furman has chosen is a huge disappointment but not a surprise.
I agree Jay. It's been very disappointing since they changed course 20ish years ago.
And not discounting what Furman WAS as a Southern Baptist Institution TPrice, but it's almost laughable to think about them in that way today... what they were to what they have become.
You are going to see a lot of this over the coming months. Also heard the talking heads talking about because of title 9 most schools are cutting 2 men’s sports to 1 female sport.
Citadel did it while I was there or shortly thereafter...time all runs together. They cut golf and lacrosse...maybe something else.
Hate to see that. I played with and against a couple of the coaches growing up, had friends that played baseball there as well in the past.
Brad Faxon is like whatever Glenn.

My Grandfather played baseball for Furman. His Senior year was 1917. They could figure out baseball during World War 1, but the Chinese Flu is enough to overwhelm them today. Soft as baby shit...
Probably a convenient way to dump a few revenue losing sports. Provides some cover from alumni backlash.
