I shoot a 7mmRM. Very versatile. Ammo available almost anywhere.
7mm Remington mag
Got 4 of them. They kill shit dead, can’t kill something too dead.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.
You might take out a dozen before they drag you from your home and skull fuck you to death. Marsh Chicken 6/21/2013
blasted holes in does like a champion for many years with one. In fact I had quite the streak going during my schooling days for shooting slick heads with mine.
I have a couple. I’ve killed everything from deer to a moose with it.
Bang, flop.
I have a 1982 Model 700 in 7Rem Mag. Great rifle and cartridge. Rebarreled 20 years ago with a Shilen at 2200 rounds fired if IIRC. After rebarrel, I have lost count of how many rounds I have fired ..Still shoots impressive groups. I have settled on 140 grain TTSX out of that gun. Kills with authority. It is my go to rifle.

Just Damn.
But obviously none of those have MAGNUM in the name. So it couldnt be any of those.

Magnum is actually more defined by performance. So let's say it's based on velocity and more importantly FPE.

my go to rifle. short tracking jobs.. regardless of where they're hit. meat lost isnt much
I have shot a 7mm rem mag since I was 12. The 243/25-06 crowd will tell you it is overkill. Really, it might be. I have killed deer from 400 yds to 7 feet. It is a great round. If you get the right rifle, the recoil is not a big deal. You can shoot deer, pigs, sheep, antelope, elk, bear... There is nothing in North America I would not take with it. The BC is better than 30 cal, bullets are readily available. I do not see a down side to it. If I do not shoot a 7 mag, I shoot a 280 Akley. Pretty similar results, less kick, but 280 is not as easy to get and AI is a reload only deal... Nosler makes a round, but good luck finding that on a shelf.
Anyway, yes, I bet you will not look back and say, "damn, I wish I had not brought this much gun."
I killed a pile of deer and hogs with mine. I don't use it much anymore, but I'm not parting with it.

Have a 7rum and 7mag. The rum hits very hard.
7mm Remington magnum is probably overkill for corn pile sniping, but damn fine if you ever decide you want to kill something bigger than a woods goat.
