Default Leaving your boat on the dock lift

We have been having issues with the big boat and took it out off the lift. I dont think it’s coming back anytime soon so I want to move my high tide to the lift and keep it at the dock.
I am worried about leaving it out with rain since I don’t have a roof over the lift. The gas tank is not covered, the ignition switch is in the open, etc. I don’t mind putting a cover over it but every boat cover I have ever bought still leaks.
Anyone leave their boat out like this and have any advice on keeping it protected?

My work boats sit out year round, no cover at all for the one with built in fuel tank- the skiff with a remote tank has a plywood cover with vents that sits over the gas tank- boats are made to be wet

Sorry let me be more specific, I’m obviously looking for a quality covering. As I said before I’ve never seen a good cover that doesn’t leak. So I’m looking for a brand recommendation of one that will keep from leaking in

I'd love to know what covers you've bought that leak. Maybe purchase a quality cover. Nothing is as good as a climate controlled storage but I've had some nice boats and moderately costly covers have kept them safe and secure. Your harbor freight tarps aren't going to cut it...neither is slapping said cover on without proper bracing for the puddles of water to run off...again this isn't rocket science.

Boat, water ahhh shit don’t get it wet.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Water is not the issue. The sun would be more of a worry to me. Order a quality cover from some one like T-Tops and if you want to waterproof it, spray it down with Star Brite Fabric Waterproofer
