Ahmaud Arbery shooting in GA.
Anyone else seen the video. Can't understand why a grand jury is needed to recommend charges.

If a man is alone in the woods, says something, and a woman does not hear, is he still wrong?

Common sense is not a gift. It's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone else who doesn't have it.
Read the article, didn't have a video in it but sounds to me like those guys need some jail time, you can't just do that cause you think someone might be a criminal
I saw the video but hard to tell what happened, half of it the camera was pointed off into nowhere and half was with them behind a truck. All you can see at the end is the perp fighting for the shotgun being held by the cop.
What was said? What led to the perp tangling with the cop holding the shotgun? Was this guy just out for a run or was he running from someone or from a house he just burglarized. Just not enough information to make any judgments from a 10 second poor video.
No Cops in that video. Homeowner and his son. Not Good.

Just Damn.
it was the retired cops son with the gun, Watch the vid. Dude is out for exercise.

I'm certain the Glynn County jury will see it the same way.

This is some crazy chit...
So they aren't cops? Not gonna end well for them.
Word on the street is that there had been some car and home break ins in the area.
Ahmaud was seen running through the neighborhood. The guy driving the truck and also filming and the guys with the guns set a trap. The guy driving was running him towards the guys with the guns and they tried a citizens arrest. The rest you can see on video
This is just what I've been told from a friend who lives in Glenn county. All hearsay at this point.

He should have kept running straight, not the hard left towards the threat.
Low country redneck who moved north
Someone comes at you with a shotgun what are you supposed to do? They maneuvered the truck to cut him off. He ran around to the right and one shot was fired when he came around the truck, like you would do if a truck blocked your way.
Who in the Barney Fife are they to make a citizen's arrest wielding a shotgun with backup guy with pistol riding in the back of the truck?

"Arbery is seen running at a jogger’s pace in the middle of a subdivision road. Greg McMichael told police Arbery was “hauling ass.” The elder McMichael said they had followed Arbery because they believed he was responsible for a series of break-ins within their community.
The video shows Arbery attempting to run around a pickup truck where two men confront him, both armed."
Runner swerved to the right to avoid redneck with shotgun. Redneck turns to go around front of truck to confront runner. At that time runner turned toward and responded to threat instead of getting shot in the back.

As in the Travon Martin case or Charleston park shooting case, this will get sorted out in a court of law. Not sure what the laws are in Ga. for citizens arrest..... as in, does a felony have to be committed in the presence of the arresting citizen? Sure looks suspicious though. Also suspicious is the cell phone video. Who rides around their neighborhood routinely videoing with their cell phone? More to come for sure......just let’s not be like the Left and jump to a whole bunch of conclusions. Every side sounds good until you hear the other side. The Legal system is not perfect but is pretty good at working through things like this.
If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.
The runner was expecting it from those reaction times, something happened before hand.

Just because this guy fit a description (which was probably young black male) of some thefts in a neighborhood, does not allow a "citizen's arrest" in Georgia.
I think the intent of that law is that a felonious act is in progress or just occurred and you have knowledge or witnessed it, not that he could be a suspect.
Plus, the guy in the back of the truck was a retired officer and investigator, so I would think he would be held to a higher standard of conduct than Joe Public.
2010 Georgia Code
TITLE 17 - CRIMINAL PROCEDURE
CHAPTER 4 - ARREST OF PERSONS
ARTICLE 4 - ARREST BY PRIVATE PERSONS
§ 17-4-60 - Grounds for arrest
O.C.G.A. 17-4-60 (2010)
17-4-60. Grounds for arrest
A private person may arrest an offender if the offense is committed in his presence or within his immediate knowledge. If the offense is a felony and the offender is escaping or attempting to escape, a private person may arrest him upon reasonable and probable grounds of suspicion.
I think the person videoing this was with the other two guys cutting off the guy jogging.
