    Default Credit Unions

How many of you use a Credit Union for financial services?

Are you implying Credit Unions have some unfair advantage over banks? Please educate me.

I find it funny that southern folks, generally republicans, hate anything union/socialist, and see no issue with having a credit union as their primary financial institution.

I’ve noticed it here and on other hunting forums for years, but wanted to just bring some attention to it.

    I’ll share more thoughts later.

Credit unions do not pay corporate income taxes.

Go read up on why credit unions were formed and how far they have morphed from their original intent and how many economic advantages their business model has.

I have an account at one that I utilize to buy toys or vehicles to take advantage of their lower interest rates. Lately though my normal bank has been just as competitive and that’s just a phone call.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I’m my experience the employees have displayed subpar intelligence when it comes to basic transaction options. The only advantage I find in them is lower interest rates on vehicle loans

Same. My dad had one at work and opened an account for me as a kid. I keep a little in a savings account there for truck loans but first citizens has been just as hood if not better

When I call Rob at my credit union, he recognizes my voice. I have purchased everything except my home through them. I call, he wires me money, I pay him back. Repeat.

On the contrary, BoA is worthless.

We have our home through BB&T and have been extremely happy.

I use what ever I choice. Right now two banks and two credit unions. How many McCarthyites are on this site. Don't kill three turkeys, don't support union labor, don't use a credit union. You got more on your list I'm sure.

I use First citizens for my business and a credit union for any vehicle purchases. Buckytownsend nailed it on the head when talking Subpar knowledge.
My business partner switched to First citizens as well. We used to have BB&T and then followed the banker to regions. Both banks would hold our deposits for weeks before allowing us access to them even though we would have 10 times the amount in the bank.
    First citizens has been phenomenal

Been with SC Federal since they were Charleston Navy Credit Union, 30+ years. Never had a problem, they always answer questions when asked. Wouldn't put my money in a big bank to save my life

In my business we deal with ever single bank, credit union, online bank, etc. that there is out there.

We transact over a million dollars ever day of the week to and from all these financial institutions.

I can give you a laundry list of pros and cons of dealing with each by financial institution name.
