Go Tigers!!!
My wife made up our large kit back when we were participating in Hunt Tests, and I had a smaller one when I still had hunting dogs.
If your Vet hunts, ask and see what they would include, along with any example lists you can get here or over at the retriever forum.

Tractor Supply has a very impressive selection of first aid equipment.
Check out Gun Dog Solutions. Jackson and Boone Walker own it. Jackson is a vet up here and Boone lives down state. Not cheap by any means of the word but from what i have heard their stuff has everything you could ever need.
I made my own. Lots cheaper!!
One thing I include is Polysporin. Obviously it's an antibiotic ointment, but I can also use it for their eyes. This was on the advice of my eye Dr.
I used to carry a basic first aid kit when I was doing field trials. About all I keep handy now is Benadryl and a syringe to administer in case of snake bite.
Aight, finally remembered.....
From what I can remember:
Bandages
Gauge
Neosporin
Stapler for cuts
Diarrhea meds
Antibiotics
Benadryl
Pepto tabs
Hydrogen Peroxide
Antiseptic spray
Thermometer
