    Default Blocks

Anyone collect decoys? What are good sources for determining background, maker, etc?

Pretty sure all of these are machine turned, doesn't really affect their value to me, but I'd like to know a little more about them.

I think the pair of mallards are the oldest.

Duplicator made. I have a old Victors Animal Trap mallard like the on you have I found buried in the marsh years ago. I also found a LL Bean floating in the marsh that had oysters growing on it, rigged with a H weight and ready to hunt. I have a ton of corks, Hilliards. Guiese, Daisy.

My Godmother is from Virginia Beach. She used to pick up an old decoy or two for me every year when she ran across them...

Fellas on Duckboats.net have a wealth of collectible decoy knowledge and are incredible carvers.

Does that canvasback have any indication of its maker on the bottom?

Not that I can tell. It has a channel up the centerline and it’s ready to rig. I’m tempted to hunt over a few of these.
