    Default Commuter car question

So long story short a family friend called and offered me this car at a friends and family discount since i drive about 30,000 a year back and forth to work and had been looking for a little car. Its a 99 Camry 1 owner with 48,000 miles. Grandma driven and garage kept. Interior is like brand new and outside is in great shape for being 21 years old minus one dent in corner of back bumper from an accident she didnt even know she had. This is what has prompted them selling her car and getting off the roads at 87. So down to my question, should i be worried about seals and stuff letting go driving this thing since obviously it hasnt been driven very hard or very much. There were no noticeable leaks or anything and the garage floor was dry as a bone underneath. He offered it to me for 2,300. KBB says 1,900-3,000 private party. What says the brain trust? Buy it? Walk away? How much would you buy it for?

Buy it. For what you want it for, you wont find a better deal.

That car will still be on the road in 20 years. I’d offer him $2k and drive it if that’s what you’re looking for in a DC.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

    Default Commuter car question

My brother has little over 200k on one, original engine/trans. Dad was first owner. 2 radiators, a valve cover gasket, and window motor are the only things beyond standard maintenance. I haven’t ridden in a car with a colder AC than that 2000 Camry. Those transmissions shift good and firm too, none of that sluggish slipping bs.

Those are non-interference engines should the timing belt break

That's a hell of a deal. That car will easily last 300k miles with normal maintenance and like someone else mentioned, the a/c is the coldest of any car you will ever have. It's that damn cold. Trunk has tons of room too and they get 30+ mpg with ease. Once you use it for a few years, sell it and get most of your money back or more than likely break even on it.

    Grandma tinted all the windows?

I thought something made this grandma car look not so much like a grandma car. I just couldn’t figure it out

Only one of the license plates is scribbled out. Btw

I’d vacuum it well. From the looks of the illegal tint, I’d be willing to bet granny left some shake behind.

You could probably drive it another 100k and then sell it to a first time driver for what you have in it.

I had a 99' that I bought with 46k and sold it with 262k for a grand. I beat the ever living shit out of that thing and it just kept on going. They are great vehicles. Just be sure to change the timing belt on schedule.

    You stole it.
"You are Citadel Men, you have no pension for failure, you wear the Ring, you never let a friend down, you will be good fathers, husbands, and leaders in the armed forces and industry, you are strong in heart, body, and mind. You protect such things as Honor and Fidelity. Your virtues matter not only in wealth, but in the richness of family, you are the last of the knights."
