    Default Craftsman tools at Lowes

I’m in need of some new sockets and always had real Craftsman. Now that things have changed for them, how’s the quality of their stuff ?

Figured I jump in with a question as well...can you swap out ratchets at Lowe’s?

Ask em at the service desk about warranty replacement. Especially ratchets if you plan to buy any. If its a simple no questions swap then Id have no problems buying Craftsman. Thats all I bought as a teenager cause I could go to Sears and swap out evrything I broke. Look at the wall thickness at the point of each flat and compare it to other brands they sell. Its all cheap steel. Buybthe "impact" sockets if youre worried about, although they can be thin sometines too, just with a black finish.

The only thing worse than shopping at walmart is waiting in line at customer service at walmart.

Common sense is not a gift. It's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone else who doesn't have it.

I quit buying Craftsman from anywhere. I started buying Husky from HD and seldom have one break where I always had Craftsman breaking. When one does, HD takes it back no questions asked.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Yea good point, I will look. I want to replace both the actual wrenches and the sockets. I had an older wrench that I was using to change my shocks with, it hit the dust. Probably 40 years old but the tang split right off when trying to pressure the bolt off.

I found that not to be the case. I have not been in a Lowe's in five years because of that situation. Through my business I used to spend thousands and thousands of dollars a year in Lowe's. Through the volume sure you'll have a return every now and then. 90% of the time I had my receipt. I went in to return a $20 item but could not locate my receipt. Although I had the credit card it was purchased on. they would not refund my money and gave me a receipt with a one 800 number on it that I could call and discuss the situation with customer service. The cashier said that would happen with customers that had too many returns. I quickly became a Home Depot only customer.

I don't buy Craftsman either. But the Husky? The few things I do have of theirs I don't really care for. I preferred the Kobalt Lowes use to carry but that selection has dwindled since they took on Craftsman.

I dropped a 2' Craftsman level 8 floors down an elevator hatch, bouncing off crap all the way down. Took it back to Sears and walked out with a new one.

Yes, I have a craftsman socket set that I picked up on sale at Lowe’s to keep on my work truck. Gets used fairly often and seems to be holding up fine.

I’ve got a set of Crescent brand sockets that have held up pretty good and the set fits in my truck box.
