I noticed that the Cherohala Skyway was closed at the NC line when I was in the Cherokee on the TN side this past weekend

The popular trails around me and off the BRP have been the equivalent of rednecks at a sandbar in SC. People all over the trails.

It makes no sense. There are tons of trails and thousands upon thousands of acres that don’t get touched.

This sort of thing will smoke the remainder of much of the tourism industry in the area.

Trump needs to hurry up and roll out that reopenin plan. State local govs and agencies are losing their minds applying this new found power. I just wonder how we’re gonna take it back?? So more and more closures in the face of deaths and hospital admissions and new cases slowing even in NY??? Hmmmmmm. They’ve closed Swamprabbit trail in Greenville yet sidewalks downtown remain open with two way traffic??? So certain risks are ok others are not? This is the main problem I have with ALL this shutdown, it’s NOT based on hard data and subjective as hell. City and County Councils and Mayors that should be sticking to their normal business of naming city streets and playgrounds are imposing curfews and shutting shit left and right. I don’t need a damn tape x on the floor to know where to stand any more than I need to be told how to drive in the parking lot for he Chic Fil A drive through. Difference is Chick Fil A have been traffic fools for a while now.

Despite this, do you think the rangers will be getting their full paychecks similar to prior gov't shutdowns? Think they support the closures and are in a hurry to re-open?

    mmmm....Wyoming....

I'm anxiously awaiting to see if they are going to cancel Frontier Days. Lord I hope not but part of me just knows better but part of me is saying WY will be WY...they are different...it's the west, but we'll see. They said they were going to wait until late May to Mid June to make the call. We are supposed to fly out on July 18th.

I just don't see that happening man. My wife is telling me that they are starting to open things back up and trying to get back to normal again around town, and I have an appointment to get my hair cut Tuesday afternoon. I've never looked forward to and been excited about getting my freaking hair cut. If I can follow that up with a waitress bringing me a fat steak and a cold beer...oh hail yes. The powers that be might go with the thinking that we have such low numbers due to our built in, natural social distancing and lack of travel into the state from visitors...and might decide to shut it down, but I doubt it. Most folks in WY are ultra independent and over this crap.
