    Default Summer Camps Cancelled?

Talked to a neighbor who owns one of the larger summer camps. He said that the insurance companies had jacked the prices so far up over this virus that the camp association had met and decided to cancel all sessions for this year. Our county's economy is officially fucked...

I have heard about several church camps getting cancelled. Boy Scout summer camps have not cancelled yet but they keep pushing registration dates out.

Let me know what you hear. Pinnacle would be a great sign if they are able to open.

Paying back all those refunds is going to bite...

Got an email today saying that no decision had been made yet (Ridgecrest) and that they are still hopeful to have full sessions.

Glad to hear Camp Pinnacle is still around. I went for a month back 55 years ago and remember it to this day. I still got some blue ribbons somewhere I won for archery and other stuff

Gwynn Valley is still hopeful, according to their website as of 4/10/20.

Insurance execs may have found their spot just behind journalists and politicians in the firing line if this isn’t the end of the damn world.

The liability is the craziest part of this whole thing.

So is a hospital liable if a nurse treats a patient while she is in the non systematic part of being sick?

Is a restaurant liable for the same scenario?

Is a camp liable if a kid infects others?

What about a factory? Can you sue if you get the rona at work?

None of this was an issue in 2019. Now it is going to trickle down to flu or colds or whatever. It is just crazy!

It sucks for sure. Really glad I was not brought up in this mess.

Take it further. How about an asymptomatic turkey hunter disobeying a stay at home order. He travels to another state where the infection rate was low setting off a cluster? Can he be charged with manslaughter? Sued for medical debts?

an entrepreneurial young spirit could make some bank getting neighborhood kids to join their local "summer camp." 9-5 every day. Parents would love it. Have them sign a simple waiver. Take the kids fishing. To the zoo (when it opens). Museums. Go swimming. Let your gf do the art project stuff.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.

My youngest was bummed, it was going to be her first year at a camp, like overnight deal.. with a friend.

Granted, my other two have never been to a camp.. I'm not really into them. I'm like your whole life is a camp, why would I pay extra? It's a lot better than travel anything though..

I think Greystone and Falling Creek are still on- Greystone cancelled their earlier sessions, but were hopeful that they could go in July. I think most folks are waiting to see how the 'reopenings' of other establishments go.

Justifiably so. they have a .0000000000000000000000000001 chance of getting something that doesn't affect kids.

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
