What's this? The deer seem to love it. Every clump I found had been snipped like this one. It has a very square stem with sharp corners.

Looks like verbena...
DUCKMAN told me what it was once but can’t remember what he called it. I think he included the word “buck” in there somewhere. And the deers around here love it.
I had an ant farm once......them fellas didn't grow shit.
It’s a mint. Probably bugleweed.
Interested as well because like you said everywhere I see it, the deer mow it down.
Crush some leaves and smell them. It’s either mint family or Verbena family.

I am a nobody, that met somebody, that can save anybody.
There is an app for iPhone called "picture this" and you can take a picture of any plant or leave and it is very accurate at identifying it. I use it all the time.
It is, oddly enough, squarestem. Deer do love it. It produces small blue flowers all summer long. Butterflies love it too.
That's certainly a good name for it. I searched online for "squarestem" and get pictures of "Snow squarestem" that has white flowers and differently shaped leaves. There are many different varieties and I suspect this is not snow squarestem. I'll try to find some with flowers. The deer haven't let any get tall enough to flower.
"Squarestem" is colloquial. The flowers will be purple when the deer move on to something else. Someone will be along to give us the proper scientific name...

This is what is said for me
That sure looks like it. Your picture looks like it has fuzzier leaves and stem but it had been raining when I took the original picts. I'll look harder for one in bloom next time I'm out. Thanks.
BTW, JABIII guessed it right first with Verbena (bonariensis).
