Default Bird people what is this?

I think it's an eastern bluebird but I've never had one in my yard that I'm aware of. I've had this bird house up for 6 years and not one bird has used it until now.

I had four chicks in my bluebird house two days ago. I checked yesterday and they were gone. Orange cat hair all over the bird box. This happened last year to the fourth clutch. It won’t happen again...

My next project is to put up some houses and feeders. All I got round here now is Mockingbirds, Buzzards and Eagles. Not necessarily in that order.

My mom has turner their yard from a bluebird desert to an oasis. They don't eat seed (that I know of), only bugs. She buys mealworms in bulk and puts them in dish feeders, and the bluebirds go crazy for them. Bluebirds like open areas like field edges, too. Woods are a tough sell for them.

I love a mockingbird. They are the sound of spring and summer. They sit in a tree and sing their whole repertoire until a cat walks by. Then they go pester the cat.

I put up a bluebird house earlier this week. Within an hour or two, one was checking it out. He hasn't moved in yet but I'm hopeful.

I think Mockingbirds are super cool.

A few years back , we were in TX drinking beer and running some new turkey calls a friend made. Two MBs flew down and lit in a Mesquite and mimicked every call we made for an hour. I like them way better than an orange cat.
