Default Trolling Motor # Thrust on a 19' CC

Have a 19' Sea hunt with a T Top. Getting a trolling motor with Ipilot. Is 80 lb thrust, 24 Volt enough? Would be used inshore and some nearshore. Won't be going out in terrible weather etc

I've got an older 70lb thrust 24v for sale in TP that I'd make you a good deal on

In most cases you'll be fine. I have 19 kw with a 80lb 24v. It does great but it has to work extra hard when the top is up and it's windy.

Roger that thanks. Compartments are limited enough in my boat. There a perfect space to fit two batteries so that's what drove my decision on a 24 volt provided its powerful enough for what Im doing

Yes 24v 80 is the right call. 36v is overkill mainly on weight with 3 batteries.

I've fished for shad out of Arrowhead when the water was running about as fast as it could go...fished for hours on end using spot lock and never missed a beat.

Get the longest shaft you can get. Using spot lock nearshore is the way to go but even a calm day will require a longer shaft than inshore. Check out Rhodan.

You’re good, look at the Rhodan too though.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Add a battery switch so you can cut the power to the power plug. They corrode a lot faster if they sit in the yard with power on them.

Probably need a 60 shaft. Stop locks are nice but they are 3 grand. A $20 anchor will do the same thing.

Really? Never thought of that before. I don't have a "battery switch" but there's an inline breaker/fuse I can flip.

Flip the breaker and put some dielectric grease in the plug periodically and it will help with corrosion.

Don't try to just add one battery in series with your cranking battery either. It works but will eventually fry the circuit board in some trolling motors.
