I've never had one. I've used several but they always seemed super load and heavy. Who makes the best one? Looking for lightweight, powerful etc

Not sure I can say it’s light weight but the North Star Pressure washers from northern tool are pretty nice. Commercial Honda engines and a variety of pumps to choose from. I chose them over others mainly because the availability of parts as they have a service center in the back of the store. Good warranty and they go on sale every so often. They also have some pretty nice electric ones too, no experience with them but I would be willing to wager the electric motor to be lighter than the gas powered ones if weight is a big factor

The pump itself is as important as anything else. Make sure you are buying something with a triplex pump. Also GPM is equally as important as PSI. All the pressure in the world won’t matter much if you don’t have the water to rinse the dirt out of the way.
And I second the North Star from Northern Tool
Thats a simpson painted to look like a dewalt. My brick cleaner uses that one all day everyday.
I have used a NorthStar from Northern tool for well over a decade, only changed the pump once and it was due to operator error( ran it dry- not me)- get a turbo nozzle to drastically reduce your working time and a flat surface cleaner for driveways etc.
Don't use a standard water hose to supply it, use the high volume hoses. I have 1500' to be able to run off a house and down the 1000' docks.
As stated GPM is as important as PSI
I like my Stihl.
How heavy duty do you need? I switched to electric and low is good. No more noise and no more fiddling with engines. Could never have made the switch while my dad was living though. Wouldn't want him to see me like that.
Most electrics are low psi and low gpm- the ones we have used would not do the job- light homeowner use and easy to clean items are their designed use.
Check around with someone who repairs them. I picked up a commercial unit that came from ICI Paints. Guy brought it in for repair and never came back for it. You better be careful with that bastard, you’ll tear up some shat if you ain’t paying attention!!!
Just normal use, spraying off the kids four wheelers from time to time, side of the house, cars stuff like that. Ok had no clue pressure washers were so expensive. Looking to spend less than $500

Check CL. I got a Simpson and several other small engine tools for a song because of folks using ethanol gas then selling when they cant start it. Heck I pulled my leaf blower out of a dumpster and fixed for $5, 4 years later it still does the job.
Most of that can be done with a hose - as far as spraying the house- my Dad cleaned his yearly with JoMax and a hose- never needed anything more.
House Pressure washers will clean a house for $100/story- they literally spray on a cleaner and rinse it off, just like my Dad did for under $20.
I've had a couple nicer ones over the years, Ive torn them up.. Now, I've never bought like yard machines from Lowes, but years back I bought this little green electric pressure washer from there. It's going on like 8 years, it's been one of the best things I've bought. Like decks, and boats, the lake house, atvs, and stuff.. it has done good, I pay someone to do my home.

Wet n Forget for the house. Not instant but it works
Recently bought a Simpson from tractor supply. Honda engine. Main use is washing the decks, truck, rangers. I’ve used it 4 times in 3 weeks I guess. Good machine so far. I had a craftsman with Briggs motor that’s 10 years old or so. Just put a carb in it for $8. It’s working now too.
Go Tigers!!!
