Default Holster Recommendations for the M&P 9 Shield M2?

As noted in my prior post, my brother and his wife decided on getting an M&P 9 Shield M2 for their much needed training. It's definite that they won't be carrying until they both feel like they've had solid training and practice, which is a relief for me as I know the only experience they have with handguns is shooting with me a few times.

In order to help him short circuit the standard 'holster search', for those of you who carry the Shield 9 or Shield 9 M2, which holsters have you found to be the best fitting, most comfortable, best value, etc, etc?

I suggested that he get one OWB (I prefer paddle holsters) and one IWB to get used to carrying.

I almost mentioned 'Alien Gear' to him, but I've never been able to get mine to stop the leather back from squeaking when I move around. Beats me why. I haven't figured out if it's the leather itself, or maybe the rivets are a tad loose. Guess I'll check on it.

Ideas, suggestions, feedback on specific holsters?

    Thanks.

Lots of good choices out there. A decent inexpensive holster for OWB is the Fobus paddle or the Safariland. Don’t get the Blackhawk Serpa unless they have changed the retention lock design. For IWB , I Prefer the crossbreed horsehide. YMMV.
If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.

I use Blackpoint Tactical for almost everything now. Both IWB and OWB.

I use a desantis leather owb for mine, the mini speed scabbard.. It’s been great. Just as important as the holster is the belt. I use an Akers it’s double layer leather with I think a polymer strip sandwiched in between. Solid set up with great retention that never moved.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll have him read this thread and I’ll go from there with him as they move forward on their training.

    Thanks!

Great choice. My girls have them for their Shields. Lil T has one for her new G43 she begged for. Going to the range at some point soon to see if the G43 shoots better in her hand than the Shield.
