Default CMP 1911A1 Field Grade Arrived

My random number was ~12,600. I picked it up a week or so ago.

I haven’t had time to disassemble it yet , but it looks every bit as good as some of the “service grades” they were selling.

Remington Rand frame and slide. Shipped from the factory in November, 1944.

That's a good looking field grade gun... surprised that one didn't make auction grade from the one pic you provided.

The picture can't show this old girl wasn't taken care of so well at one time. The slide was sandblasted before the gun was reparkerized. I'd like to think it drew blood in support of the war effort, maybe even riding in a holster on Iwo.

The service grades posted on the CMP forum seem to mostly be refinished (zinc park/light color) and stored. This one was overhauled at some point and used.

Congrats, most old war guns are like the old war vets, been beat up, used hard, sent to the shop for fixin and replacement parts, and an awesome piece of history.

Service grade1911's weren't known for their accuracy and would rattle when shaken- the loose fit is what made them run reliable in tough field conditions. There are plenty of article on line about making them more accurate and they will usually need feed ramp work to run hollow points.

My favorite rifle I own is my Inland M1 carbine, close range pig and deer killin machine and it will keep a 20 round mag in a Copenhagen can at 100 yds using the peep sight.

Good catch. I know people who are trying to get them through the club. Seems they are waiting for more to be released.
It's not enough to simply tolerate the 2nd Amendment as an antiquated inconvenience. Caring for the 2nd Amendment means fighting to restore long lost rights.

like a fox. The dude may be coming in a little too hard and crazy but 90% of everything he says is correct.
