    Default Fan Video

Some can't kill one without it. That's sad.

I hope no one on here uses one on.

    Hope the link works.

Unfortunately hardly any of this new generation knows how to kill one without a decoy or fan.

Go catch one by hand on video if you think it's so easy.

Take your generalized statements elsewhere. I'm mid 20's and know plenty of guys including myself that are just as "old school"

Does the fact that you or I don't use full strutters make you or I a better person than any of the other younger kids? Yes I totally agree with you that they are easily hated, but half the problem with every turkey hunter today is the fact that he thinks he/his ways make him better than everyone else. Everyone looks down on you if you aren't wearing Greenleaf or BottomLand, don't wear Lacrosse Grange boots, and don't shoot .410 TSS. Every turkey hunter has his means and methods which he enjoys. For some that is strutters, yes, it seems cheap but that's whats gives them their kicks. For me and most likely you too, it's woodsmanship, cat and mouse, relying on calling over decoys, slipping around on one, etc. At the end of the day all it comes down to is how you enjoy the sport of turkey hunting and being in the outdoors interacting with these crazy birds.

At the end of the day, cool video, no its not for me or you, not my style. No need for the hate, get out there and enjoy the way that you hunt and be glad that everyone else has fun doing it in their own way. Ok rant over, good luck this spring!

    Well said.

I appreciate the bottomland/green leaf crowd only crowd. They’re what allowed me to get a brand new turkey vest off Nomad for half price, all because it was in Realtree Extra.

There is an old Ben Lee video out there somewhere with a guy laying on his back ,covered in leaves, calling in and grabbing a longbeard by it's feet. It's pretty awesome. I will try to find it. He did release it. Unharmed.

Yep they want to cut down on number of mature gobblers killed in March then do away with fans and all male decoys. Those numbers will go way down

I made that point to both the house and senate subcommittees last year.

Because I'm bored . . . for those who are opposed to gobbler decoys, do you make exceptions for youth hunters? I don't "reap," but I have used a gobbler decoy in the past. It's not a magic elixir and, frankly, it has ruined more hunts than it has helped. I have had several birds coming in a string and then bolt the other direction upon seeing the gobbler decoy. I rarely use any decoys at all, as I primarily run and gun in the woods, but I'm trying to get a bird for my 9 year old for the second season in a row, and I will not hesitate to use whatever "prop" will get a gobbler within range of his .410. That includes a blind and gobbler decoy if necessary.
