    Default CWP transfer

In the next few months I'll be moving back to SC from FL. I have my CWP issued from Florida is there a way to use that to get one in SC or do I have to go through the whole thing again in SC?

I can't find anything online that addresses that.

SC does not have reciprocity with FL, so I'd guess yes, you would have to do the SC CWP course to keep conceal carry rights when you move back. I checked a site that says SC acknowledges "residential permits" from FL. Whatever that means.

The SLED site says SC does have reciprocity.

Once you establish residency in SC you will need an SC CWP and I believe you will have to take the course in SC to get one. I'm not a lawyer so take that for what's its worth, I am presently staying in a Hilton if that adds any creditability

I think that reciprocity only applies to nonresidents of those recognized states who are temporarily in SC. Once you transfer your residency to SC, I believe that you have to get a new SC cwp. I don't think it's as simple as a transfer.

I’m going to need to join a hunting lease. I’ll be in Charleston. What you got?

It may still be useful to see if Florida will let you convert your Florida CWP to non-resident. Not sure how it is currently but it used to be that Florida's non-resident CWP was accepted in many more states than SC's.

    Think we do have reciprocity.
The site I was looking at musta had bad info. Either way I think the scope is that a FL resident could legally carry when travelling through the state or here on vacation, things like that. When you move, I don't they just hand you a new SC CWP. You gotta take the course. Again I could be wrong.

Isn't SwampRat our resident CWP instructor? He could prolly add some useful insight.

Call SLED to be sure but it is my understanding that a change in residency will require you to go through the process of getting a new permit. However if your original SC permit was issued less than 3 years ago, you should ask if they would reinstate or at least take credit for your training since SC CWP training is valid for 3 years.

    Good luck
If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.
