I've seen Tommy Emmanuel, and while he is simply amazing, I don't like that style.

Gimme Jimi (Hendrix) with Prince and Keith Richards as honorable mentions. Richards guitar playing ain't a bit pretty but he gifted the world the riff.

I was in Seattle last year and I went to visit Hendrix's grave. Somebody keeps fresh flowers on it all the time.

I think Joe Walsh deserves honorable mention and there is a fella named Claudio Sanchez from Coheed and Cambria that I think deserves honorable mention for what in my opinion is one of the most bad ass opening guitar riffs ever... see attached.

It's Pat O'Brien of Cannibal Corpse. Best bassist is Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse.

Roger McGuinn had a 12 string guitar
Them that don't know him won't like him, and them that do sometimes won't know how to take him

He ain't wrong, he's just different, and his pride won't let him do things to make you think he's right

He ain’t the best, but I was amazed at Sturgill’s guitar work on stage last night. Had no idea he could play like that. I vote Clapton for classic guitarists.

I love claypool's style but can hardly stand to listen to more than about 3 minutes of Primus...I just can't wrap my head around their music or claypool's vocals...

Roy may not had been the most original and a great front man in a band but I just can't think of anyone who mastered the guitar as well as he did plus was exceptional with any other stringed instrument.

In no particular order, SRV, Jimmy Page, Albert King, and Mark Knopfler.
