I'd be getting the word out that you're making your son pay for everything and anything so maybe his "friends" will tell their mommy and daddy to not worry about it.

And here I thought those old 3 wheelers were dangerous.
The Elites don't fear the tall nails, government possesses both the will and the means to crush those folks. What the Elites do fear (or should fear) are the quiet men and women, with low profiles, hard hearts, long memories, and detailed target folders for action as they choose.

Insurance company totaled the ranger. They gave me what I paid for it minus the deductible. The boy and his friends are on the hook for that.

Still waiting to see what happens with the medical payments.

It honestly doesn't seem right that as the vehicle owner my insurance is on the hook to pay for the medical bills. The driver was at fault but because he was in my vehicle my insurance pays.

    That's messed up.

Driver is always at fault. Vehicles don't wreck themselves anymore than guns shoot themselves.

And I agree. It's messed up. Thank a lawyer.

Yup, and their health insurance won't pay it. As soon as they saw it was a wreck, they will seek your liability.

You don't tell the hospital shit other than what hurts. It doesn't matter how it happened, it happened now help me fix it. Split my head open on a granite curbstone, guess I should have told the ER it was the City of Charleston's fault for putting that curbstone there and Cannondale's fault for making the bike.

You allowed them to use the Ranger therefore you are liable. If they stole it you would still be liable but your contributory negligence would be a lot less, and you would be a victim as well in the eyes of the court. The good news is you only have to worry about this until 2/15/2023 and if you haven't been served by then it has all gone away.

    Bullshit is all it is.

One of my bucket list items is to have a case heard before judge Judy. Wondering if this may be the one.

I know this isn't what you want to read, however , good on you for carrying insurance and an umbrella policy. Would suck to have to carry all the financial burden from your wallet. Folks here should read and learn.

Just wanted to post an update. All claims are closed. The passenger's medical bills were paid by the insurance company. Release signed. The driver's medical bills were paid by insurance and I was told since they paid the hospital directly and he was the driver, there was no release to sign. Don't know if that is the case.

My son has already paid me $300 of the $1,000 deductible for the ranger. I don't really see it as his debt. I told him I expect to be made whole and his friend should pay for it. Letting him handle his business. If he decides to pay it all, that's on him but he and I will discuss it.

His shit ass friend that was the driver has yet to apologize or pay for anything.

So, this thing may be over?

Just seeing this. That's awful. Glad it's mostly all worked out.

A good friend of mine is this guy's replacement....it didn't end so well for him.

    Scary stuff.

I've got $100 of your son's financial liability that says his "buddy" won't be his buddy no mo after this deal.

Up side: Your son is learning a helluva lesson rather inexpensively.
