I go through Cottageville weekly as do most that live in the area- it has always been known as a speed trap- it's the only reason for the police force, like many other small town police departments. Bert Reeves was well liked, but also well known for excessive speeding and had altercations with the town cops a few times over it.

The state just sued Columbia over illegal firearms ordinances and the SC AG should be at this meeting to slap down the city and let them know it won't be allowed. I'll be there, and if this passes- I'll break the law every time I go through the town. The town encompasses many hunting tracts, I guess they think they are just going to shut all that down too.

I have now since put this in front of two different legal beagle attorneys . Both agree that as presently issued , that it could easily per legal jargon mean two different things entirely and is wide open for interpretation.

Dickens summed the law up quite nicely- "The law is a ass, an idiot."

    I'm with Cat daddy.

    Where is Cottageville?

    Is it even in SC?

I'm getting the impression it is like that area out on the River Road outside Florence called New Hope.

If you blink your already through it.
    Yup, he's crazy...

like a fox. The dude may be coming in a little too hard and crazy but 90% of everything he says is correct.

Cottageville is a speed trap with a long history of hiring bad cops.

You can remove Cottageville from your statement and replace it with a lot of little SC shitholes.

No, if you dont know Cottageville, you just dont know. It's like no other place in SC.
Years ago AAA offered travel advisories on this town and it's reputation as a speed trap.

I thought State law already superceded any local law?

I heard someone shot a deer from their front porch behind the BP, apparently close to a road and other homes. There's also a dude that walks around town open carrying a black powder revolver. He wears a badge on his shirt and looks like he's a Texas ranger or something.

Was the house in the city limits?

State law supersedes but a local ordinance is valid until someone sues to prove it goes against state law.
