I remember so many people being in favor of gas tax so the "roads would get fixed". I laughed at those people.

Salaries are not funded through the recent tax increase.

I have 35’s on my truck and I thought I had blown the tire twice on the way to moms the other day.

The main roads around here get patched when a pothole is formed. Then it rains and washes the quikcrete out and gets worse.

That’s the dang truth. If it was performance based she would owe money at the end of the year

So we pay her more than the committee’s recommendation? I don’t think anyone in state government should make that k8nd of money. I know she’s managing a huge budget but damn.

Didn't really think they were, but roads are still sorry as shit. Damn sure shouldn't be anybody in government getting a 32% raise, and certainly not in a department that everybody in the state can see isn't doing their job worth a damn. Beyond that point, anybody who votes a tax upon themselves is a damn fool.

    Default Gas Tax Slush Fund

SC is close to as shitty of a state as anywhere in the union when it comes to taxes.

    Blows my mind.

    Anyway....she got paid

“Department of Transportation Secretary Christy Hall’s service and leadership over the state’s roads agency, setting her new salary at $251,232, up from what was $190,944.

That amount was even higher than the $226,336 salary proposal the commission’s subcommittee approved the day prior.”

I do a lot of driving in other states and I still haven't found another state with roads in as bad as condition than SC.

Taxes have to accrue, engineers have to plan, contractors have to bid, work has to be done.

It was estimated to take 20 years.

They're "fixing" some spots coming up 25 through Travelers Rest. Might as well just left a damn hole. The patch will knock your teeth out when you hit it.

Horseshit, road and highway construction is the biggest con game played from the taxes collected all the way through to the contractors being paid.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.
