    Default Cancún

Any of y’all ever went with any charters down in Cancun? Going to be down there beginning of April and wanting to do some fishing. Looked at “the perfect game”, any info is appreciated.
A fish bites 2 times a day, right before I get to the water, and as soon as my boat gets back on the trailer.

Agreed. Lots of Sailfish. Big Amberjacks within sight of Isla Mujeres. Be prepared to see some fish " dried out" The Messicans aren't too big on catch and release..

Isla Mujeres. There were some boats out of Cancun that take you out to the reef and drop down bottom fishing. Just tourist dumps though. And Nitro is right, those fellows put everything in the box.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Would like to do some trolling. This will be our honeymoon and she insists on going fishing.

If it's your honeymoon, I imagine the pink snapper bite will be pretty strong near the resort.

One thing that we experienced fishing off Isla- the Captains are not too safety minded. They go no matter the weather. It's a long day on the water when all the paying folks on the
boat are below deck puking their guts out from the chop. Meaning 8 foot + rollers. Makes for a good time solo fishing . An AJ will cut yer azz when you are using one hand on the rod and one on the gunwale to keep from getting washed overboard. Fond memories.

It’s generally rough or at least not calm this time of year down there. Local boats aren’t the latest and greatest and ones out of Cancun think nothing of backing up to a baitball with fish on it and tossing live bait. All American boats out of Isla especially dead bait fish. I think Dem Boys is down there this season but I may be wrong. Ask around. Someone here probably knows that crowd. Otherwise islamujeressportfishing.com. Anthony Mendillo I think still owns that operation and they’re who I’d pick if going back and not in an American boat. In fact used them to snorkle with whale sharks in summer two years ago and it was a hell of a trip. They own the Keen M and another few boats that have done well in tourneys down there in the past. I’ve fished 2 days in probably 6 years of going down there every spring that were calm. Just so you know. https://www.islamujeressportfishing.com

It has definitely been bouncy on the ocean for the past month! Haven't been as far South as Cancun yet but it has been anything but smooth out here!!
Living in Moncks Corner but looking forward to moving back to the West Coast in 2020 where there are more ducks and less duck hunters!! LOL

Trolling is VERY cumbersome due to the influx of the damn sargassum.

I got a sail last year after MANY hours. Did some digging in 400' which was a damned workout; brought up a big almaco jack.

We went out with a great crew down in Puerto Aventuras which is South of Cancun. I'll be in Puerto Morales in June and will probably book the boat again if the seaweed situation has considerably improved. If not - I'll just take my own damn pole again and play in the surf.

We fished a private boat in Isla all week. Had anywhere from 10-20 sail bites a day. One boat went 38/55 on Thursday when most of the fleet layed. Never can tell when you might bump into a pack of them...
