I have had no problem catching them in the surf on hand lines the last few years.

The big males will be closer to the ocean at inlets.

Steamboat is still producing around low tide. Guy had about 30-40 the other day and said had had the same the last time he was there.

It's been an odd year. Last year was gang Buster's all summer. This year has been much slower but numbers are getting better. We run a small commercial line and only keep males.

It was slow a couple of weeks ago. I had a pot in Big Bay all weekend and only picked up 1 blue and one stone. I normally pick up a meal overnight there.

It’s actually opposite. Most Big males move up closer to fresh water this time of year. Or up small creeks. The females are close to the ocean. I netted 2 dozen on a beach the other day with no bait.

I admit to not fooling with em til about September.

By then, they (big males worth keeping) are close to the ocean along the Sound.

At least that’s where I find them.

We had 4 traps taken July 4th weekend. First time we'd had a problem. Hope they don't get yours.

Where did you have them set and at what time did you set them?

Regardless of WNM’s answer I’m curious to hear your reason for asking the question. I haven’t (knock on wood) had a trap taken at Edisto. I’ve had them taken from North Inlet, but there have been times I’ve wondered if someone emptied my trap before I got to it.
