    Default Walleye recipe?

Was in local Publix today and they had never frozen Walleye. Have not had any in many years so bought 4 filets for Sunday lunch

Do I fry or grill ??

Wife has always said freshwater fish is for frying and saltwater fish is for grilling

We used to catch some when I lived on Lake Hartwell back when I was in high school/college but have not caught one in many years

From what I recall it is about as good as crappie and you really can not screw it up

Fry it or eff it up. Walleye is quite possibly the best freshwater fish swimming.

I watched GA DNR electroshock walleye on Hartwell next to a property I was surveying a year or so ago and there were some really big walleye. They were looking for breeders for their hatchery. Very impressed with the number and size of the walleye they brought to the surface.

Guy I work with will really get on them when they spawn. He has always told me they are the best freshwater fish.

Me either. I have done it a few times but wife and not too hung up on it

Usually just make my own batter with corn meal, flour and Cajun seasoning

Yellow perch are right up there as well. We eat lots of walleye and perch here. White corn flour salt and pepper in large bag , egg or milk dip them fillets ,get the skillet and oil hot , give them fish a shake in the flour mix and fry til golen both sides. Kinda like candy.

We have plenty of poachers south of the Mason Dixon. They're not very discriminating about what they'll poach either...fish, ducks, turkeys, deer.

I love to poach a whole gutted sea trout with leeks, butter, a little stock and white wine.
